HIPC is currently run by a Steering Committee which takes collective responsibility for managing the business of the College instead of a Chair and Vice Chair as historically. The member of the Steering Committee (SC) are elected volunteer Chairs of the Standing Committees (see below).
In place of a College Treasurer, there is a Chair of the Finance Committee, who with the support of an accountant /bookkeeper and committee members oversees the College finances and coordinates the budget proposals and activity plans.
An elected representative from within the Steering Committee represents the College in place of a HIPC Chair at the UKCP’s Professional Regulatory Committee of the College and Faculties and provides a point of liaison between the College, the UKCP Chair and CEO and the central executive of UKCP.
There is a place on the Steering Committee for the representative of the College at the UKCP Members Forum to provide liaison between this forum, the membership of the College and the UKCP Board of Trustees.
There are two regular formal places on the SC for ordinary member volunteers also elected by the College. Although they do not Chair a standing committee they take full part in the business of the Steering committee
Additional members can be coopted by the SC from time to time, with the agreement of the College, to undertake particular tasks or represent particular areas under development such as the Convener of the Working Group representing Children and Young People or the Convener of the Diversity, Equality and Intersectionality Working Group.
